We LOVE our #spengafam here at SPENGA Dayton!  We are thrilled to introduce our Member of the Month, Sophie U!

 

You inspire us with your energy and dedication in session, and your kindness outside of it. Keep up the awesome WERK, friend! Here is a bit about Sophie:

 

What made you want to try SPENGA in the 1st place?

Initially, I wanted to try SPENGA because I was looking for a unique workout routine and a healthy outlet to channel my stress. I was drawn to the equal focus on cardio, strength, and flexibility along with the guidance and support of the instructors. From the very first class I took, the instructors motivated me to challenge myself throughout the entire workout.

What is your favorite part about SPENGA?

My favorite part about SPENGA is walking in the door and being surrounded by people who motivate me to be the best version of myself. SPENGA has provided me with a sense of belonging and community with individuals who have similar interests and goals. I have formed many friendships over the last year, which has also helped me feel less isolated during the pandemic.

 

Ride, Rep, or Revive?!

I thrive during REP sessions; this is my favorite part of every workout! During REP, I can feel myself getting mentally and physically stronger and better. I challenge myself by taking the progressions recommended by the instructors to personalize my experience and improve my performance! I also love that REP rotates through different methods such as turbulence, tabata, little method, ignite, etc. so it is always different and challenging in new ways!

 

How has SPENGA impacted you?

I’m not sure where to even begin! On a daily basis, SPENGA helps me to better myself. I take this hour of time out of my day to self-reflect and utilize it as an outlet to manage and improve both my physical and mental health. I can always count on SPENGA to leave me feeling invigorated and revived. I am blessed I found such an amazing place that inspires me to thrive, love myself, and meet my goals. I can’t imagine my life without this crew- the instructors and members are one of a kind!!

 

Best piece of advice for someone just starting out on their fitness journey, or for someone interested in trying SPENGA.

My biggest piece of advice is to never be afraid to try something outside of your comfort zone because you might end up finding a new passion! Everyone’s health journey is different but it’s important to set goals for yourself- some I set were going to 3 SPENGA group fitness classes a week and progressively lifting with heavier weights. Over time, you will impress yourself with the improvements in your performance! Additionally, be kind to yourself throughout your fitness journey and trust the process!
