SPENGA CREW Spotlight: Cassie W.
Check out our incredible Instructor, Cassie W!
Here is a little bit about her, be sure to book a session with her SOON!
What is your fitness background?
Growing up I was a cheerleader all throughout my grade school years, that was about as far as my athleticism and fitness background went. In college, I would dabble into fitness here and there in group fitness classes, etc. However, it was really after college graduation that I found a passion for fitness. I needed something that would help me feel better mentally, physically, and emotionally. It all started with an online fitness community that incorporated cardio, weights, and even yoga. I became hooked on the feeling and haven’t looked back since!
What do you think is most important in a fitness philosophy?
To me, consistency and self-discipline are the most important fitness philosophy. Taking the time to show up for yourself every day, even when there is a voice in your head telling you, “just skip this one”, makes the difference. The only “bad workout” is the one that didn’t happen. Once you start making that commitment to yourself and those small consistent choices to show up, the rest is history!
Favorite song right now?!
My favorite song right now is Run by OneRepublic, both for a cycling class and just to jam to!
What is your go-to pre or post-workout snack?
My go-to pre or post-workout snack is a banana and peanut butter or a rice cake with peanut butter, banana and honey!
We know instructors aren’t *supposed* to choose...but fess up. RIDE, REP, or REVIVE?!
REP 100%!! However, there is something about the rush of a 20 minute RIDE cycling portion during the class.
What is your favorite part of being a SPENGA instructor?
The SPENGA community is my all-time favorite part about being an instructor, or coach, here at SPENGA. The members and staff we have at this fitness studio are unlike any I have met before. We root for each other, on the good and bad days, we want the absolute best for everyone.
What is your favorite time to take a session? Favorite Format?
My favorite time to take a group fitness class or even just to get a workout in is in the morning, I love to get in and get it done first thing. My favorite strength training format is either Tabata 20/10 or Tabata 30/15, however, I do have a love for IGNITE too!
What do you love about SPENGA?
I love that you get all 3 pillars of fitness, cardio, strength and flexibility all in one place in one hour. It truly is the BEST WERKOUT EVER.
What impact has SPENGA had on you?
SPENGA has become my second home. It’s where I get to see my members, the people I love and care about, reach their goals and believe in themselves. SPENGA has also taught me confidence not only in being a fitness instructor but also in my personal and professional self.
What are you reading? Binge watching?
Right now I am reading Verity by Colleen Hoover and I am watching the show EVIL on Netflix.
Favorite spot in Dayton?
I love going and visiting all the breweries Dayton has to offer! A few of my favorites are, The Dayton Beer Company, Warped Wing Barrel Room & Smokery, Eudora Brewing Company, Lock 27 Brewing and Mudlick Tap House, just to name a few! ;)
