Member Spotlight: Kristen L.
We LOVE our #spengafam here at SPENGA Dayton! We are thrilled to introduce our June Member of the Month, Kristen L!
You inspire us with your energy and dedication in
session, and your kindness outside of it. Keep up
the awesome WERK, friend! Here is a bit about
Kristen:
What made you want to try
SPENGA in the 1st place?
I wanted to try SPENGA because I was finally ready to
take back control of my body, mind, and spirit. I was tired of being stagnant and was ready to get better. Plus my bestie @shaunaraewhaley swore by it… even at 5am.
What is your favorite part about SPENGA?
Hard to pick just one…
The community is something I’ve never experienced in
group fitness before. Everyone is on the same
team even if we’re all working towards
different goals. Whether it’s the entire strength
room cheering for the last person to finish in
boxing, the collective deep breaths throughout
yoga, or the friends hanging after class
supporting each other through real life things,
this community has really fallen in sync with
each other and grown TOGETHER.
Personally – The hours spent at SPENGA with
my mom is some of the most precious time of
my entire life. I’ve seen her push herself at 65
years old to do things at SPENGA with no fear
and then will legitimately brag about her to my
friends about it. She’s tough stuff. Feeling her next to me on the bike & seeing her across from me in strength motivates me even more. She might take a break, but she won’t quit. It’s taken me seeing her at SPENGA to know that’s how she’s lived her whole life. You can reset, you can take a breath, you JUST. CAN’T. QUIT. She’s the best person I’ve ever known, and I want to be that to someone someday. (UGH now I’m emotional and it’s only question 2).
Ride, Rep, or Revive?!
Shew… A perfect class? RIDE with @hmostler, REP with @_instructorlauren, REVIVE with @janellesharee
How has SPENGA impacted you?
SPENGA has given me back control of my body. I’ve gotten mentally tougher, physically stronger, and spiritually renewed in my year with SPENGA. I joke that a class a day keeps the sad away, but it really does. It’s my hour to push myself, to completely escape from life and truly appreciate all that my body is and all that it can provide for me. I’ve seen my body change in ways I didn’t know possible. I’ve seen the discipline SPENGA has instilled in me bleed into other parts of my life as well.
Best piece of advice for someone just starting out on their fitness journey, or for someone interested in trying SPENGA.
Show up for yourself. It’s incredible what a group of people showing up for themselves can provide to each other. You can do hard things. SPENGA is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done for myself, it may just be for you too.
