Member Spotlight: Cody T.
We LOVE our #spengafam here at SPENGA Dayton! We are thrilled to introduce our Member of the Month, Cody T!
You inspire us with your energy and dedication in session, and your kindness outside of it. Keep up the awesome WERK, friend! Here is a bit about Cody:
What made you want to try SPENGA in the 1st place?
Sarah Clark! :) For months and months and months she was raving about this “SPENGA” and how much she loved it and how it was the only thing that would get her out of bed at 5am. It’s hard not to be curious about that kind of recommendation. She kept telling me to try this gym but at the time I wasn’t into the whole fitness class thing. Finally, I caved and went with her on a Saturday morning where I met Cassie and the SPENGA CREW and got my ass KICKED!! I knew as soon as I got off the spin bike, I wanted to sign up and I’m glad I did. It’s been a hell of a ride ever since.
What is your favorite part about SPENGA?
Oof. The happy hours??? No, my favorite part is the sweat that falls off my body every time I’m in that studio. We should have a sweat challenge where we actually measure the amount of sweat in a month. I also think it’s a really great community. Everyone’s energy is infectious and we’re all there to stay healthy and have fun. SPENGA cares about their CREW and makes it known with the small events and promos they continuously put on. The fundraising event for Instructor KC, the Century Challenge, the birthday celebrations, the support on social media. All of it.
Ride, Rep, or Revive?!
Mmmmmmmm I’m going to say ride. Mainly because SPENGA was the first place to introduce me to spinning and my legs have grown an inch since I’ve started. The vibe on the spin bike is awesome. Something about the RPMs to the beat just is a different type of energy.
How has SPENGA impacted you?
It’s made me realize how much I miss and really enjoy the intensity and routine of high intensity fitness (HIIT). It’s almost like a throwback to high school sports when you’ve got practice every day and games/meets you’re training for and never having a day off. The way it makes your body feel (and look). The friends and connections I’ve made. It’s also the only thing that can get me out of bed at 6am.
Best piece of advice for someone just starting out on their fitness journey, or for someone interested in trying SPENGA.
Best piece of advice I could give for someone just starting out on their fitness journey is that the habit is the most important piece of it all. Ease into it if that’s what you need to make sure you’re creating the space for you to come back time and time again. Focus on what you want to get out of it and to hell with anyone else’s idea or opinion. My advice for someone interested in SPENGA is that you’ll be mad you didn’t start sooner!!! Worth every penny. It’s fun. Energetic. Always different. Challenging. 10/10 would recommend.
